Not the Hero is a pixel-art story game about the characters every hero walks past. Play as Villager #4 on the market square, the shopkeeper by the east gate, Gurt the first boss on the old bridge, the princess and the dark lord himself. Each chapter plays differently, from quiet conversations to real-time arena fights. Your replies branch, but the hero wins anyway. Collect 22 achievements, try every answer and find the hidden ending.
Use WASD or the arrow keys to walk and SPACE to talk, look at things and continue dialogue. Pick replies with the mouse. In the bridge fight, move with WASD, strike with SPACE or J, slam the ground with K and roll with SHIFT. As the dark lord, hover with WASD and cast spells with SPACE or J, K and L. Press ESC or TAB to pause. On a phone or tablet, drag to walk, tap to continue and use the on-screen buttons to fight.
